19 Days and Counting
Great progress is being made on Big Train to Hollywood.
Half the new features are in and their tests pass.
Many of the new features are the most-asked-for things. Makes me happy to have these in.
The rest are things about split between increasing the ’shareability’ of the things you find in Cullect, making things easier to find, and a few tweaks to the UI. Where ‘tweaks’ equals cleaning up and removing UI elements.
I’m still as excited about this rev as I was about the initial launch.
It’s far DRYer than the current version as well.
July 16 is How Far Away?
If you’ve followed Cullect’s development you know the major releases are driven off external deadlines - primarily demos and presentations, but occasionally a birth day.
This trend continues.
July 16 is when I’m planning to launch the next major version (code name: ‘Big Train to Hollywood‘).
Thanks goes to Tim Brunelle for putting the stake in the ground.
Cullect Will be Unavailable: Tues, June 17 1-2am CST
Just received word from Joyent that maintenance will be performed on the Cullect server early the morning of Tuesday, June 17.
Tumblr.com Authentication is Back
A bug was identified in the Tumblr.com authentication earlier this morning. After a quick email exchange with Tumblr’s Support Team, it was quickly identified and eradicated.
Cullect is as Much a Feature as an App
This week I had 2 great conversations with organizations about integrating Cullect into their services and platforms. These conversations inspire me - and they seem to inspire those on the other side of the table as well.
From the very beginning of development, I’ve seen Cullect less of a distinct destination (MapQuest) and more of an engine (NAVTEQ). In Cullect today, evidence of this perspective is all around (i.e. the sparse UI). In fact, the most requested features are responses to this engine-perspective.
Long term, I see Cullect still standing on it’s own as it does today. I also see Cullect as the underlying engine for sharing feeds within a number of services and platforms.
Drop me a line if you’re interested in integrating Cullect into your existing systems. Especially if you or someone like you is on the Cullect 1000 list.
